It all started from my childhood. I have been interested in slingshot since my school days. I played using an Indian style slingshot. After my college days, at the age of 25, a friend of mine gifted me an imported slingshot. After 2 days of using it, I could feel the difference between Indian models and foreign professional slingshots. It was very easy and capable of hitting targets very accurately.
Our Indian model slingshot can be used only for entertainment in our childhood. If you want to hit a long range target, Indian style slingshots will not help. In Indian Model Slingshot, we use stones and marbles to hit the target. Generally all stones are heavy and therefore cannot travel long distances. In India we call it by many names like Gulel, Kavatai, Undigol.

In foreign professional slingshots, it is completely different, they only use steel balls of specific sizes. And they use flat bands for more accuracy. It is called by many names like slingshot and catapult. These slingshots are mostly used in Vietnam, Indonesia, UK, Canada, China and USA. In these foreign countries, they play it as a professional sport. They play it in clubs and tournaments and they give their respective prizes and certificates. They manufacture slingshots using various materials like stainless steel, wood, high quality plastic, carbon fiber, G-10 (high pressure fiberglass laminate), titanium etc.
To use foreign professional slingshots, you need to train properly with complete enthusiasm. It hits the target in a very precise manner. It takes at least 3 months of practice to hit the target very accurately. After good practice you should be able to hit a 3cm target at 30m range.
